☆  Sessions

Flight School basketball camp consists of two sessions: Jul 29 to Aug 2 (boys) & Aug 3 to Aug 7 (boys and girls). On the first day of camp, Overnight Camper registration begins at 12 noon and Day Camper registration begins at 1 pm. Dinner will be the only meal served on the first day of each camp session (Jul 29, Aug 3). Check out begins at 12 Noon and concludes at 2 pm on the last day of camp (Aug 2, Aug 7). Campers may register for both sessions. Accommodations will be provided for campers who are registered to attend both sessions. We require an additional fee of $80.00 for room and board.

☆  Eligibility

Both boys and girls are welcome to attend Flight School. All applicants must be between the ages of 7-18 years old. Campers may not be high school graduates. Session 1 is for boys only, while Session 2 is co-ed and open to both boys and girls.

☆  Facilities

When selecting a home for Flight School, UCSB was hand choosen by the Flight School staff for it's many benefits. UCSB's quality basketball facilities and professional events staff create an unforgettable experience for all camp participants. With 12 full size basketball courts and 4 impeccable outdoor courts, campers are afforded the opportunity to learn, play and showcase their skills with confidence. The majority of basketball activities are held at UCSB's Event Center. The Event Center accommodates not only six courts of non-stop action, but allows spectators to view games as well. The balance of the basketball activities take place at the UCSB Recreation Center. This state of the art Recreation Center cosists of 4 indoor courts adjoined by 4 outdoor courts; Which lends itself well to mild temperature outdoor play.

☆  Housing

The epicenter of the Michael Jordan Flight School is at Tropicana Gardens. Tropicana Gardens is also where the overnight campers will stay. MJFS offices, meals and camp store are located on campus. A majority of the Flight School coaches and administrative staff stay at Tropicana Gardens, as well.

☆  Location

The camp will be conducted at the beautiful and prestigious campus of The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Situated on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean with spectacular views of the Channel Islands and the Santa Ynez coastal range, UCSB sits in the midst of California's most beautiful coastline. UCSB is located approximately 100 miles north of Los Angeles and is easily accessible via Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Hwy 101 and train. This marks the 16th year that the Flight School has been held at UCSB and our consistency has enabled us develop a great working relationship with campus administration, housing officials and facilities management. With the easily accessible location, outstanding housing and basketball facilities, as well as tourist events and activities, UCSB provides the ideal venue for the Michael Jordan Flight School to continue to be the finest youth basketball camp worldwide. With it's beautiful beaches, picturesque mountian ranges and close proximity to Los Angeles, Santa Barbara offers a wide array of entertainment and relaxation options. The city is one of California's major destinations, as many `Angelinos' retreat to Santa Barbara's five star hotels and resorts for weekend getaways. Santa Barbara's downtown business community ranks high in respect to shopping centers, restaurants and entertainment venues. Also, during the same time frame as the Michael Jordan Flight School, Santa Barbara's largest celebration takes place. `Old Spanish Days Fiesta' is a city celebration that includes the local government, businesses, community and UCSB.

Overnight Camper $760.00 ($775 if paying with credit card)
Day Camper $620.00 ($635 if paying with credit card)

Overnight Camper attending BOTH Sessions $1,600.00, which includes $80.00 middle night stay-over fee ($1,615.00 if paying with credit card)
Day Camper attending BOTH Sessions $1,240.00 ($1,255.00 if paying with credit card)

☆  Tuition Includes

Tuition includes basketball instruction, meals, MJFS poster, camp T-shirt, color team photo with Michael Jordan, personal autograph (1 autograph per camper), certificate of participation, player evaluation card, medical care, supervision and tons of fun.

☆  Special Notice

Michael Jordan will be in attendance on four of the five camp days per session and will be conducting personal lectures, interacting with the campers, refereeing random games, taking team photos, and signing one personal autograph per camper.

Please note that during the autograph session, Michael Jordan will not sign the following items: Fleer Premier Rookie Cards and any competitor brands (ex: Adidas, And 1, Reebok, etc). We thank you for your kind consideration in this matter.

☆  Cancellation Policy

There will be no refunds if cancellation occurs less than 4 weeks prior to the first day of your camp session. Deadlines for cancellations are as follows: July 1, 2012 for those who are attending Session 1 (Jul 29 - Aug 2) and July 6, 2012 for those who are attending Session 2 (Aug 3 - Aug 7). You may receive a refund less the $200.00 administration fee if you cancel after the cancellation deadlines listed above.

☆  Discipline

Any serious violation of camp regulations such as willful damage to university property, or any other behavior deemed detrimental to MJFS will result in immediate dismissal from camp. Any camper found harassing, bullying or inflicting any physical harm onto any other campers/roommates will be immediately asked to leave camp. There will be no refund of tuition should a camper be dismissed.

☆  Day Campers

Day Campers can enjoy all the activities of the camp at a reduced rate. Day Campers will be responsible for commuting to and from camp daily. Day Campers should bring all the necessary gear and apparel each day in an athletic bag. Day Campers are required to report each day at 8:45 am and can be picked up at approximately 9:45 pm. Day Campers may eat breakfast if they choose to, however they are required to each lunch and dinner at the dorm with the Overnight Campers.

☆  Registration by Mail

Due to the volume of correspondence that we receive, when mailing in applications, please allow 2-3 weeks for complete Flight School enrollment confirmation.

☆  Transportation

Transportation is available at no charge for campers traveling to and from the local airport, bus or train stations on the first and last day of each camp session. Those who are in need of transportation can notify us by completing the transportation request form that you will receive with your final information package in the coming months.

☆  Housing & Meals

Campers will be boarded at the Tropicana Gardens Dormitory, which offers spacious and comfortable accommodations. The dormitory grounds provide a safe and supervised environment that include a recreation room, swimming pool, cafeteria, camp store and laundry facilities. Hearty, health conscious meals are planned and prepared by our chefs. To ensure safety, we have security patrolling the dormitory area from 10 pm - 8 am.

☆  What to Bring

Each camper is required to bring the following to camp: towels, washcloths, soap, personal hygiene items, twin size bed sheets, blankets, pillows, basketball footwear, atheletic socks, gym shorts, T-shirts, windbreaker, sweat suit, alarm clock and detergent for laundry are all necessary. It is recommended that each camper's apparel is marked with their name. Do not bring watches, iPOD's, TVs, radios, video games, etc. MJFS is not responsible for the theft of any of the aforementioned items. Vehicles are not allowed on campus.

☆  Resident Roommate Requests

We will make every effort to accommodate all roommate requests; however, there will be absolutely no roommate requests granted on registration day! We will not allow boys and girls (even if brother and sister) to room together during the co-ed session, so please do not request that when completing the roommate request section on the camp application. All roommate requests must be made at least 3 weeks prior to the start of your camp session.

☆  Money

A bank will be provided for the safe keeping of your money. In return you will receive MJFS Bank Cards, which are good at all camp stores. Campers will have the opportunity to check their money out of the bank several times each day.

☆  Camp Store

The camp store is onsite and items to be sold include: limited edition T-shirts, jerseys, camp shorts and sweatshirts, pizza, hot dogs, drinks, snacks, candy and more.

☆  Insurance and Medical Care

All campers must provide their own medical insurance. Professional medical trainers are on duty at all times at camp. Doctors are on constant call and hospital facilities are readily accessible. Because of the rigorous daily schedule, each camper should come to camp in excellent physical condition. Every conceivable effort is made to protect the camper's health and safety through the extensive training of our medical staff, constant inspection of equipment, and supervised instruction for campers. If a medical situation should arise, the cost for treatment of injuries and hospitalization for illness or injuries while attending the Flight School will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian of the participant. Any medical insurance carried by the parent or guardian may be used to defray such medical and hospital costs. The camp staff assumes no responsibility for accidents or illness. We will not accept a camper with pre-existing medical conditions unless we have been notified of such prior to registration. Please complete all medical information on the application. The camper will not be admitted to the camp without the proper insurance information and signature of a parent or guardian on file. Should a camper require any special medical attention or is required to take any medications, the camp director requires that you document such needs. Please attach any medical information to your camp application.
