Learn the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, rebounding, passing, and defense from Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time, along with his "first-class"" coaching staff. Before his 6 NBA Championships, 5 MVP Awards, 10 NBA Scoring Titles, 2 Olympic Gold Medals, NCAA Championship Winning Basket and 26 Game Winning Shots, learning the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, defense, passing and sportsmanship were critical in Michael Jordan's development. “The Michael Jordan Flight School offers boys and girls the opportunity to learn the same principles that allowed me to become the player that I was. Come fly with me for our 21st year!” -MJ • SessionsThe Flight School basketball camp consists of two sessions: July 24 - July 28 (boys) & July 29 - August 2 (boys and girls). On the first day of camp, Overnight Camper registration will begin at 12 noon and Day Camper registration will begin at 1 pm. Dinner is the only meal served on the first day of each camp session (July 24 & July 29). Check out starts at 12 Noon and concludes at 2 pm on the last day of camp (July 28th and August 2nd). Campers are welcome to register for both sessions. Accommodations will be provided for campers who are registered to attend both sessions. For the extra night, we require an additional fee of $100.00 to cover room and board. • EligibilityBoth boys and girls are encouraged to attend Flight School. All applicants must be between the ages of 7-18 years old. Campers may not be high school graduates. Session 1 is for boys only, while Session 2 is co-ed, open to both boys and girls. All campers who wish to register for the Michael Jordan Flight School must be physically able to take part in all basketball-related activities by the start of their camp session. Any campers who may have serious limitations must provide a letter from their doctor clearing them for such basketball activities. • FacilitiesWhen selecting a campus for Michael Jordan Flight School, the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) was hand chosen by the Flight School staff for its many benefits. UCSB offers state-of-the-art basketball facilities while on-site professional event staffing creates an unforgettable experience for all camp participants. With 12 regulation indoor basketball courts and 6 outdoor courts, campers are afforded the opportunity to learn, and showcase their newly acquired skills with confidence. The majority of basketball activities will be held at the UCSB's Event Center. The Event Center boasts six courts of non-stop action and allows spectators generous views of the games as well. The balance of the basketball activities will take place at the UCSB Recreation Center. This ultra-modern recreation center consists of 4 indoor courts adjoined by 4 outdoor courts, providing for optimal mild-temperature outdoor play. • HousingThe epicenter of the Michael Jordan Flight School is situated at the Tropicana Gardens. Incidentally, this is where the overnight campers stay. MJFS offices, meals and camp stores are located at the Tropicana Gardens. The majority of Flight School coaches and administrative staff stay at Tropicana Gardens, as well. Some International groups who attend Flight School may be housed at Tropicana Del Norte (1½ Blocks from Tropicana Gardens).
• LocationCamp will be held at the beautiful and prestigious campus of The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Situated on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean with spectacular views of the Channel Islands and the Santa Ynez coastal range, UCSB sits in the midst of California's pristine coastline. UCSB is located approximately 100 miles north of Los Angeles and is easily accessible via Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Hwy 101 and by train. This year marks the 21st year that Flight School has been held at UCSB and our consistency has enabled us to maintain a solid working relationship with the campus administration, housing officials and facilities management. Due to its easily accessible location, outstanding housing and basketball facilities, tourist events, and activities, UCSB provides the ideal venue for the Michael Jordan Flight School to continue to be a premier youth basketball camp worldwide. Beautiful beaches, picturesque mountain ranges and a close proximity to Los Angeles offer Santa Barbara a wide array of entertainment and relaxation options to its visitors. The city is one of California's major destinations, as many Californians retreat to Santa Barbara's upscale hotels and resorts for weekend getaways. Santa Barbara's downtown business community ranks high for shopping, restaurants and entertainment venues. Also, during the same season as the Michael Jordan Flight School, Santa Barbara's largest celebration takes place. `Old Spanish Days Fiesta' is a city celebration that includes the local government, businesses, community and UCSB, as they celebrate a weeklong festival. • Local Accommodations

Overnight Campers: Tuition is $795.00 ($810.00 if paying by credit card).
• Tuition IncludesTuition includes basketball instruction, meals, MJFS poster, camp T-shirt, color team photo with Michael Jordan, 1 personal autograph per camper, certificate of participation, player evaluation, Jordan gift bag, medical care, supervision and lots of fun. • Please NoteMichael Jordan will be in attendance on four of the five camp days per session and will be conducting personal lectures, interacting with the campers, randomly refereeing basketball games, taking team photos, and signing one personal autograph per camper. Please note that during autograph sessions, Michael Jordan cannot sign the following items: Fleer Premier Rookie Cards and any competitor brands (ex: Adidas, And1, Reebok, etc.). No cameras allowed during autograph sessions. We thank you for your kind consideration in this matter. • CancellationsThere will be no refunds for cancellations occurring less than 4 weeks prior to the first day of your camp session. Deadlines for cancellations are as follows: June 26, 2016 for those attending Session 1 (July 24 - July 28) and July 1, 2016 for those attending Session 2 (July 29 - August 2). You will receive a refund less a $225.00 administrative fee per camper cancellation provided you cancel prior to the cancellation deadlines listed above. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN AFTER THE ABOVE MENTIONED DEADLINES. • DisciplineAny serious violation of camp regulations such as willful damage to university property, or any other behavior deemed detrimental to MJFS will result in immediate dismissal from camp. Any camper found harassing, bullying or inflicting any physical harm onto any other campers, roommates, or staff will be immediately asked to leave camp. There will be no refund of tuition should a camper be dismissed. • Day CampersDay Campers can enjoy all the activities of the camp at a reduced rate. Day Campers will be responsible for commuting to and from camp daily. Day Campers should bring all the necessary gear and apparel each day in an athletic bag. Day Campers are required to report each day at 8:45 am and can be picked up at approximately 9:45 pm. Day Campers may eat breakfast if they choose, however, they will be required to eat lunch and dinner at the dorm with the Overnight Campers. • Registration by MailDue to the volume of correspondence that we receive, when mailing in applications, please allow 2-3 weeks for our staff to complete Flight School enrollment confirmations. - No camper is officially enrolled into 2016 Michael Jordan Flight School until they receive a confirmation letter from the MJFS administrative offices. - Downloadable Application• TransportationTransportation is available for campers traveling alone to and from the local (Santa Barbara / Goleta) airport, bus, and train stations on the first and last day of each camp session. This service is provided at no charge. Those who will be in need of transportation can notify us by completing the transportation request form that you will receive with your final information package in the coming months. • Housing & MealsOvernight Campers will be boarded at the Tropicana Gardens Dormitory, which offers spacious and comfortable accommodations. The dormitory grounds provide a safe and supervised environment that includes a recreation room, swimming pool, cafeteria, camp store and laundry facilities. Hearty, health-conscious meals are planned and prepared by our chefs. Special dietary requests will be accommodated upon request. Campers will be housed in apartments/dorms that sleep between 4-10 kids per unit depending on their roommate requests and general housing/rooming assignments. To ensure safety, we have security patrolling the dormitory areas from 10pm - 8am every night/morning. • League / Team StructureThe Michael Jordan Flight School is set up as follows:
We do not place campers on teams with their friends, family members or roommates in order to allow for competitive balance.
• Typical Daily Schedule
• What to BringEach camper is required to bring the following to camp: towels, washcloths, soap, personal hygiene items, twin size bed sheets, blankets, pillows, basketball footwear, athletic socks, gym shorts, T-shirts, windbreaker, sweat suit, alarm clock and detergent for laundry are all necessary. It is recommended that each camper’s apparel be marked with his or her name. DO NOT bring watches, iPod’s, iPad’s, expensive headphones, cell phones, TVs, radios, video games, etc. MJFS is not responsible for the theft of any of the aforementioned items. Vehicles are not allowed on campus. • Roommate RequestsWe make every effort to accommodate all roommate requests; however, there will be absolutely no roommate requests granted on registration day. We do not allow boys and girls (even if brother and sister) to room together during the co-ed session, so please do not request that on the camp application when completing the roommate request. ALL ROOMMATE REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY JULY 3, 2016. • Money at CampA bank will be provided for the safekeeping of your money. In return you will receive MJFS Bank Cards, which are good at all camp stores. Campers will have the opportunity to check their money out of the bank several times each day. • Camp StoreOur onsite camp store offers apparel for sale including limited edition camp t-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, and camp shorts, to name a few. The camp store also offers food items such as pizza, hot dogs, drinks, snacks, candy, and much more! • Prize and Giveaway RedemptionMichael Jordan’s personal “Win a pair of Jordan’s” contest has become a long-standing tradition at the Michael Jordan basketball camp. Winning a pair of shoes has been a real treat, not just for the kids, but for the parents as well. Please note that the shoes are NOT SIGNED BY MJ, and to be fair, there is a limit of winning ONE PAIR OF CONTEST SHOES PER CAMPER/PER SESSION. Though we try to expedite the shipping of shoes, the process is not an exact science. Please note that shipping begins in November. We would like to ask that you please not contact Nike or any of its affiliates regarding shoes won while at camp, as Nike and their affiliates are not responsible for MJFS contest winners. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. • Insurance and Medical CareAll campers must carry their own medical insurance. • The Right to Refuse ServiceThe Michael Jordan Flight School reserves the right not only to accept but also to reject any paid camp registrants and/or applicants as we see fit. |
